Jobs Across the World | Japan Needs More Full-Time Workers
June 10, 2017 | For decades, Japan has hired mostly temporary workers, which has resulted in a lack of full-time permanent workers.
According to Junko Sakuyama, senior economist at Dai-ichi Life Research Institute, the shortage of workers in Japan has increased to the point where jobs can’t be handled by only part-time employees. The Jobs Across the World company reports that this is the perfect time to pursue work in Japan due to all of the job openings. The unemployment rate is only 2.8%, the lowest since 1994, but many workers have been non-regular employees, meaning that they are temporary and often in part-time positions. While the change is slow, hope is on the horizon for greater full-time job opportunities in Japan.
